Deep Thought For The Day

From The Norton Anthology of English Literature, 8th Edition, introduction to the Anglo-Saxon literary work, "The Dream of the Rood". (Rood= Cross)

"Christ and the Cross both act, paradoxically, in keeping with, and diametrically opposed to, a code of heroic action: Christ is heroic and passive, while the Cross is loyal to its lord, yet must participate in his death." (Bolding my own.)

That is so like us. We may be loyal to our Lord, yet we still participated in his death. Kind of sobering.
